With spring slowly moving north, I hope this letter finds you well and smiling.

This is the most recent update I have on the Winnapaug Golf Course. At this time, an agreement, in kind, has been reached with the developer and those who have opposed a major change to the property. As I understand it, the proposal in place, which must be approved by the Town of Westerly, is one which the golf course will remain public and in perpetuity. There will be a small hotel, ancillary buildings and an unknown amount of condominiums and houses around the golf course. I am unaware of the exact number of either. There is a public hearing in late April which will allow all interested parties to voice their opinion. As we are updated by the Town, we will do our best to keep you updated.

In conclusion, we remain in close contact with the Town Manager and the Westerly Police Department to determine mutual issues of concern and interest. The AHA continues to have a strong treasury and will continue to support several local charities as well as the Avondale Chapel. We will keep the annual dues at $50, but feel free to increase your contribution for future years.

The Annual Meeting will be in late July followed by refreshments. We cordially welcome all and wish you and your family a safe and happy summer.
